What Proposition 50 Does

Proposition 50 would temporarily allow the California Legislature to redraw congressional district maps for the 2026, 2028, and 2030 elections, returning to the independent Citizens Redistricting Commission process after the 2030 Census.

Prop 50 is a critical response to partisan redistricting in states like Texas and Florida—moves that have shifted the balance of power in Congress. Prop 50 ensures California’s representation keeps pace with these national changes.

What’s at Stake

Prop 50 is more than a technical change—it’s about who has power in Washington and whose priorities are heard.
